Event Overview

Hosted By:

Simba was found wandering amidst fields of sugarcane in Kolwade Village located in the Sangamner range of Maharashtra in 2021. The two-month-old cub had been within these fields for hours in search of his mother. A child from the village spotted the cub and soon, the Forest Department was alerted. Despite numerous attempts at a reunion, there was no sign of the mother and it was presumed that she had either left the area or succumbed to the many dangers faced by leopards in India.
The cub was already nursing an injury on his tail, presumably caused by a pack of feral dogs. With no hopes for the cub to brave it out in the wild without the guidance of his mother, the difficult decision was made to raise him under lifelong care at the Wildlife SOS Manikdoh Leopard Rescue Centre in Junnar, Maharashtra
